i have a shimano baitcasting reel and a 7 1/2 foot rod.....what kind of line should i use....i like to stay at around 10 pounds but if i go lighter i lose fish in cover and if i go higher the line coils and is really easy to back lash....ive used 10lb berkley Trilene Sensi thin, 10lb Berkley Trilene XT, and 14lb Stren Lo-vis Clear. the Sensi thin was ok but it got very coiled and felt weak. the XT is my favorite of the two but stil coils, however it feels tough. the lo-vis is super tough but gets way too coiled way to fast and fishing light worms and baits is impossible. is it just imposible not to have super coiled line or is there a solution? thanks for the help

well i usually fish 12 lb. berkley high impact line on a bass pro shops mt-11 since i can,t afford a shimano i wouldn't really know how well it works you should choose one of their pre selected line classes, but if you fish heavy cover you may want to use 15 to 30 pound mono or braid line. the lines really depend on what you think works best so buy different line to experiment to see which you think you should use. to solve the problem of coiling there are 2 solutions, one when you re-spool have your reel on your rod string the line through the guides and tie it down to the reel. then when you reel this is where you may need help have someone hold the line with some tissue to keep tension so most line coils don't show up. another tip is just to soak your line in water by stripping line into the water to let it uncoil. if you want to get rid of backlash when you cast right before the weight or lure hits the water just hit the spool with your thumb.

basically p-line c-xx is a line manufactured by p-line which is what they think is xtra strong line with xtra smoothness. and braid lines are very stong and abrasion resistant, the only down side is that it is more visible under water unlike mono which is hardly visible under water
