Figured I'd give trout plugs a shot at the trailer park. Brian #2 has all my Slammers, but I just bought a sick looking osprey. 7" key lime color. Oh yes. So, I respooled some 30# Floroclear onto my 400S, tied on the Osprey and charged it. I utilized the Byron Velvick retrieve, demonstrated in the video, and it actually works. I had 3 or 4 fish bite the bait during my 1 hour session. Velvick says to kind of hop the bait in the water, so that it dimples the surface and then sinks down a foot or two and comes up and dimples the surface again. It looks like a trout eating mosquitos and stuff off the surface. Let me tell you, this retrieve is sweet. I could not get bit on the straight wind, slow roll, or bulging the surface, but all of the fish bit it using the Velvick retrieve. It was pretty cool to actually watch a video, go out and try something I learned, and actually have it work. Unfortunately I didn't stick any fish, but for some reason I'm still satisfied having those fish bite it. That means many more nights of trout plug excitement within 15 minutes of my house... oh yeah. So, Byron Velvick is pretty much my hero, and I'll undoubtedly be at the trailer park tomorrow night after work.

Um, that is cool or something. I mean yeah the hookup ratio was 0-fer, but you did get bit which is pretty sweet. When do I get my video dammit.

I'm gonna bring it by Eric's after I get it back from Rob. I'll let you know when so you can show up for the screening... Eric wants to see it too. BTW, on my way down to SD on Friday my 15 min. stop at Eric's turned into an hour of ordering Ospreys, researching the Generic Trout, and looking through japanese magazines. So, Eric will have a fresh supply of Ospreys on Tuesday, handpicked by me... Colors include the silver shad that I hooked that big fish on last week, in 7" and 9" and green sardine in 7". Just an FYI.
