I'd go fish for the greenback cutthroats in RMNP.

I grew up and Denver and fished at Estes lake a couple of times as a kid. Truck trout on night crawlers type of fishing mainly, but that was over 20 years ago. The river that feeds that lake (the Fall river?) is supposed to have decent fly fishing as well but I never fished it.

Thanks for the leads :)

We'll just do something casual. Catching a cutthroat would be cool, never got one before.

Fishing was not amazing.

We tried Lake Mary and Estes Park Lake from shore. There were a lot of 4 inch trout. Maybe that's the size they stock there?

Did see a few people catch a few 10 inch rainbows, but only a handful considering how many people were fishing and how long we were there for. The kids did get to catch a few of the 4 inchers so that was a positive :)

I tried for an hour or so in the river near Estes Park. I think it was the fall river? Hooked two brown trout on pins minnow and lost both. One was 12 inches I guess.

We also tried for 15 minutes in some creek up in rocky mountain national park. The creek was raging full of water! I saw a few fish, 8 inchers, but they wouldn't bite. The water was super cold.

The water all around the park was high and fast which may have affected the fishing. In the end, it didn't really matter. We had a nice vacation and the scenery was beautiful. Here's some shots of Derek and I trying our hand.

I brought that hat because I knew it would get crushed in my backpack on the airplane :) Didn't want to mess up my good hats :P

The hat still looks perfect. Must be a Ranger high quality thing. I see what you mean, I would expect the "other" hat to get messed up pretty bad ha ha

skeet rod, now that is hilarious

Okuma. Ice fishing rod. Mark got it for Derek when he was born. It was the only thing I had that would fit in the suitcase. Talk about quality product, we checked that bag coming and going and it didn't get broken :)

I had a dream like 3 nights ago that I was in some pro/am and the pro was in a Ranger and we got slammed up and down the main river. Weird dream, strangely realistic :o :D :9 :P
