Recently the fish I have been on have been keyed in on 2-3" shad. I remembered Rob's article on Big Hammers, and sure enough matching a 3" Glow Sardine got bit 1st cast, and got several fish and a couple more bumps before I lost them all. Therein lies the issue; in order to get any casting distance, I have to fish light 6-8lb line. The open hook on the Fishco style tri-heads I was using got bit, but the lake is at full pool and the brush sucks up the open points on thise heads. WAR baits has their 3/8th oz heads with the guard, as does Blade Runner, but 3/8 is too heavy. Right now I'm trying a 1/4 Gammie darter with a weedguard and glued on eyes, but the regular heads have the better profile. Anybody know of a weedless swimbait head in 1/4oz?

Some ideas from TW. Line tie isn't in the optimal position but they're small to match a 3in Hammer size bait and they have a guard to get some measure of weedlessness.

Sweet...thanks Rob! I have the weedless darters all matched up with 3D eyes, and get to see how they'll do tomorrow. I'll hopefully pick up the pack of Skinny Bears you posted here soon too.

Success! The weedless darter actually came back through brush and chunk rock pretty well. Eyes came off, but next time I'll use 2 ton and it should help with that. Sweet!
