18065, Procedural stupidity leads to Back Ponds being closed until 2012

The DFG Commission just voted unanimously to delay implementation of the regulation changes to open the back ponds at Shadow Cliffs for catch and release fishing until 2012 because if they implement in February 2011, they have to do an update to the DFG regulations.

This all came about because the November commission meeting was postponed or canceled for some reason. So thanks to this procedural glitch, we can look forward to another year plus with the back ponds closed FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER WHEN EVERYONE AGREES THEY SHOULD BE OPEN.

Thank you DFG Commission for closing these ponds for 2 years for NO REASON. Disgusted.

Thanks for the update Rob. This is just ridiculous government at its best.

I look forward to you writing a book someday when you compile all your BS DFG experiences and everything you have learned while sticking up for the anglers about how the state of California, environmental organizations, and water money people are systematically eroding the ability to fish for fun in California. I know it'd be a lot of work, but you write well and would be an interesting read like all your other writings about these closure issues from the Quagmire to trout to Delta Conservation(water export plan.

If I wrote that book, no one would read it :) People just want a fishing report that tells them where to go, what to use and when to be there.

I want that too, but lately all my focus has been on these political issues because I want to have a place to go fishing and something to fish for when I get there. It makes for drier reading but I enjoy writing about it in hopes of keeping fishing folk appraised of what is going on and in hopes that it will motivate others to take up similar goals.
