What's the best way to get to New Melones from the east bay (Dublin)? Hwy 4 or Hwy 120 or ?

580 E to 205 E to 5N to 120 E to 99 S to the Slida exit E (219 Clairable Rd.) all the way out to Albers road Left on Albers to the 108 in the Town of Oakdale 120/108 to the town of Jamestown turn left on rawhide road to HWY 49 make a left on 49 follow it to the lake.

WOW that is a mouthful, but it is the way I have been going for years. It takes you longer if you go the 120 route all the way from HWY 99. If you have not used the Rawhide rode cut off before you will be surprised at the time it saves from going up and through Sonora on HWY 49. The road it a bit windy but I have pulled many a boat up there before. Do not go hwy 4, it takes you way up out of your way and the last bit of it after Coperopolis plain SUCKS

WON Team tourney, gotta go do it. I went there once before and caught 100+ fish on spoons. I also got totally lost on the way to the lake. Too bad only 2 of those fish I caught were keepers. At least its spring time so fishing should be easy :)

Rob, two words: Angles Arm. Start in the back and hit every point on the way out.

Thanks John.

Hey tell me something... If I am reading the lake level page right, New Melones is down 156 feet. Is that for real?

You are right Rob. But because of the steep nature of the lake as well as its size it is not as bad as you would think. This is its lowest it has been (at the same time of year) since 1995.
