Today was one of those days. One of those days with patchy clouds and a slight breeze. Unsettled winter time weather. One of the kind of days I look for at Margarita because when it's like it was today you can bet the big dogs will be a stirring. I was on the water at 1pm and after motoring down the lake and making 2 casts with a certain new bait that I picked up recently stuck a beautiful toad bass and was on my way back to the marina for photos and the scale. The fish went 7-0 even and was my best bass to date. Austin, one of the other Margarita locals, was at the marina so I invited him out and we proceeded to get into a ferocious bite on big fish. I had three more weighing 3-4, 3-7, and another one about the same size I didn't weigh. Austin had 3 fish with two over 3lb's and late in the day stuck another big female at 6lb's 2oz. Our best 5 were somewhere around 23 pounds. Phenomenal. Below are the pictures, from which you should be able to infer what I was throwing.
The 7 pounder

Austin's 6-2

A mere 3-7 (har har)
