I stayed at the Seven Oaks Campground in the San Bernardino National Forest over the weekend to get my oldest daughter out for some stream fishing. We had to work for our fish because that weekend was not stocked by DFG, and it followed the mad rush of Memorial Day weekend. I was joined by a buddy from work and his daughter. We all managed to catch a few stockers and a couple of natural browns despite the bad timing. We fished 3 different parts of the river between the bottom of Seven Oaks Road and the South Fork. It was a mixed bag of bait, everything from salmon eggs, to power bait, to the old reliable rooster tails. The fish we could find were very picky and inconsistent. We also explored some new areas of Bear Creek and the Santa Ana River way down at the bottom of Forestry Road 1N09. There were some awesome fishing holes down there but we started a little too late and only got a few fish that mid-morning. Most fish caught over the weekend were between 6 and 10 inches and all were released. We fished Jenks Lake for about 2 hours near sundown with no success. It was fun trip despite our ice chest of beer and soda and our firewood getting jacked on the last night. No matter where you go, there is some a-hole out there with sticky fingers. I posted the photos at the following location... You can also Google Earth "Seven Oaks, CA" to see the location for yourself.

Tight Lines, and enjoy!
