16184, Del Valle Comments?

Hi Everyone,
I am taking my best friend and his nearly 3 year old son fishing up at Del Valle (out of Livermore).
He hasn't been fishing since he was a little kid and wants to have fishing as a pasttime for him and his son.
I have not fished Del Valle and am hoping to hear some recommendations on fishing there. I hear they having been planting trout regularly and another 1,800 lbs is expected this week. There seems to be a wide variety of fish in the lake.
Any suggestions? I want this to be a good experience for both of them.

Just a follow up to let you know that Del Valle is currently biting well. The trout and catfish are active, with trout better taken from boat. Catfish were being taken from the shore.
Crawlers and powerbait are working for trout and the usual bait works well for catfish.
