I dont know, I just think kokanee with their spawning colors and body shape are the coolest fish ever, little bad asses. Check out the head on this male

Heres another image of the male, these things have huge teeth coming straight out of their noses

Heres one of a female

The changes these fish go through, I think, are the most dramatic of the salmon. The deep shiny green of the head, and that real deep red of the body are crazy. It would be totally cool to have two males and a female mounted on a piece of driftwood, with the two males sparring. That was the original reason we went after these fish, so we could mount them, but somehow we got sidetracked.

They came out of Hell Hole. The other thing we meant to do was go after big browns with swimbaits!! I know that will work.

Nico and I got a look at the Kokes up the river at Pedro a few weeks ago, it was a really cool thing to actually witness. I wanted to try to catch one to look at it but we didn't have any of the right tackle :( There is something that is just cool about the life cycle of salmon. It seems tragic in a way but at the same time it's just an awesome thing. Those are some cool pics you got of the fish in their in between stage.

Yeah, the Kokes have some awesome spawn colors. Though this is a bit off the subject if you get a chance to fish for some Browns (trout, that is) in streams right now, then you'll see some great color too. Just got back from a Sierra trip, where I ended up with a couple browns. Their spawn really begins around the end of November, so right now they're moving up from the streams out of the lakes. And they're agressive, too! I had one brown absolutely crush a lure skipping and burning under the surface: one second I see the lure, the next I see a huge swirl where my spoon should be! :D
