Heading to Casitas this weekend and would love some local knowledge from the Cal Fishing members. Any advice as to specific areas, baits, etc. would be much appreciated. Thanks!

was up there camping this past weekend, got 3 fish on plastics thursday afternoon in the cove next to the coyote launch ramp. Friday I had 7 fish on the longest dock on coyote on a bass pattern jerkbait topped by a 4lber shaking a worm. Saw a lot of fish chasing shad, and there's a ton of them in the back of some of the coves if you can net them, you'll kill em.

Many thanks for the report. I'm looking at the Casitas map at http://www.casitaswater.org/lake%20casitas/boating%20and%20fishing/lake%20casitas%20recreation%20area%20map.htm

Were you fishing around the dock at the launch ramp across from Coyote Creek near the model air strip and next to Big Cat cove? Did you happen to note if there were shad all day, or just in the morning? Also -- would love to know more about the jerk bait you were using.

Thanks again!

Yea, that boat ramp across from coyote creek is coyote launch ramp. The shad were pretty much in the cove between the launch ramp and the model air strip all day, but there was a lot of brush back there so be careful if you're taking your boat back there. The shad were a bit on the smaller side too, between 1.5-2 inches. I was throwing a dd pointer 78 in aurora bass when I got most of my fish. good luck
