Well my son may never equal his first bass.
My son Cody begged me to take him fishing all day
so I agreed to take him for the last hour or so of light.
as light was fading at the lower lake lagoon at Castaic he threw out
his night crawler and a yell went out I got one!!!
His reel screamed I went to help and my 8 year old said NO
WAY . So all I could do is coach him thru the battle. When i saw the fish break the surface my jaw dropped.I keep coaching till he finally said "PAPA" relax you are scaring me . With that I stood and watch him do his thing.after about 5 min. (felt like an hour)
he landed his bass. It was at least 12lbs but no official weight
I told him he could keep the bass . But my 8 year old son said no
he reminded me we were a catch and release family with bass.
I was so proud to see him let it go.Our future generation
of fishermen had to remind this one.
AIN'T FISHING GRAND!!!!

I'm proud of your son for releasing it. What a catch! If you had kept it, what the heck would have you done with it anyway, lol?! I hope you got a picture--that's the way to preserve memories and fish. It is pretty much of a turn off showing a big bass that's been dead past a day or so, lol! Pictures however can be shown forever.

AWESOME! Have you thought about a fiberglass replica? If you have a pic, they can make one that looks excellent.

Tight lines,
