John,

There's been a number of posts about El Salto in the past. If you do a search for the word Salto you should find them. Another good bet would be to call over to Bass World West 866-JUST 4 BASS. Those guys outfit a lot of trips to El Salto and will know some current info.

Ill be heading to El Salto in March. This would be my fourth trip down there. The first time I fished El Salto was in May. I did really good, caught 13 over 10 before noon. The biggest was pushing 14 lbs. Caught them on smoke and silver flake senkos. A few on a wood chopper and spinner batis. Most all of my fish came on the senko. Swam jigs alot during the mid day hours. Caught a lot of 6 to 9 lbs that way.
I fished with Pro Bass Adventures. They run a good outfit. They fish out of Rangers rigged with trolling motors, while the other outfitters fish out of red wooden boats that tie up to trees. Try to fish the sunken town just north of the launching area. Hit the trees nd the cement poles in that area. That where I caught most of my big fish.
May should be hot down there with very little chance of rain. Cool mornings turning into warm to hot days. Drink plenty of water and wear long sleeve shirts and wrap a wet towel around your neck. Take a good pair of sun glasses and sun screen. The quality of your adventure will be based on the experince of your guide. Good luck and tell us how you did.

I havent been there myself i have been invited many times with buddies going but it never seems to be the right time or the right cash flow. They all stay at anglers inn, these are some top pros on the west coast and i trust their judgement. good luck you can look up anglers inn on the net it looks awsome. Scott R
