I replied to Fisher 4 Life's post below, but it's so far down the string, I figured no one would see it. So here's my Castaic report, which I'll happily share:

We were the fifth boat out on Castaic yesterday. Third cast we boated a 4# on a popper and a 2# on a buzz bait a few minutes later. That was it for the topwater action but the rest of the day was awesome. Hit a couple of the coves on the ski arm throwing poppers, Senkos and the bait of the day: 5" oxblood w/ red flake Roboworm, Texas-rigged with brass n' glass and drenched in Kickin' Bass attractant. I stuck to that bait all day and boated 10 including three over 4#. I also had two break off. My buddies threw the other baits plus crankbaits and jigs and only got 3 each. By the time they wised up and switched to the Roboworm the bite was off, although I caught my three biggest fish back to back to back between 2PM and 2:15PM. Most amazingly, I caught them off a sand beach with no cover and really churned-up muddy water. I was gonna skip that spot all together but my pal said to throw in there b/c the brass n' glass is good in dirty water and man -- was he right. Practically an instant hook-up.

I went online and ordered more of the Roboworms because they're pretty trashed after one or two fish. Good luck all.

Thanks for the report Jimmo, not a bad day at Castaic at all, especially being the fifth boat in :)

Beaches that are being pounded by wind, waves or whatever usually are good because bait gets pushed into it and the bass use the off colored water to ambush the bait. The mud-lines are an awesome piece of "structure" to fish.

Thanks again for the report. Trever-

Hey Jimmo..... Good job gettin on the Largemouth, thats a great day this time of year. I can't tell you how many times we were cut off or almost capsized by ski boats on friday....You would think they would be more careful because we had a 10 year old girl on the boat but they just don't know any better.....:-(

Were there any trout left on the ramp?....They were balled up in 2 schools when we went but couldn't throw the big stuff because there were too many boats around the ramp.....

Thanks for the report...I'll call ya and let you know when i'm goin out again........Warren

Yep -- still lots of trout around the main ramp. Didn't see anyone fishing the stripers early though.

Talk to you soon.

Nice stripers, WellFairFisher. What were you using?

I used the 5" straight tails with a crawfish colored worm weight and a red bead. I just ordered more in 7" though, because they get shredded and I figure I can keep cutting them down. I'm gonna order the zippers too, in Oxblood and Greenie Weenie. They look like winners but I've never fished them. Have you?

I'm going back on Sat.

Fisher4life......I used really big pieces of Sardine or Anchovy's with a trap hook flylined with really light line....Had 2 other rods out there with 8lb and they didn't get touched......Warren

My kid bro Fishstar told me the same thing, he would get the dinks on heavier line but the bigger ones were extremely line shy. He said he was using 6 pound fluoro for his best success. Guess with all the hammerin they are getting picky.
Anyone had any luck with the bigger swimbaits or just the baitfish?
