Posted by fish on, Tue Mar-23-04 09:24 PM
I was fishing lake Mission Viejo on Sun. I ran into Mickey owner and creator of 316 lures he showed me his new hard bait The Armageddon in the water this bait is by far THE BEST TROUT PLUG EVER for all of you people who don't believe the hipe this bait is for real the detail is outstanding the action is rediculous. You can swim it slow, fast, jerk it, and dead stick it does everything better than any bait out there. another awesome feature this bait has is when you dead stick on a windy day the wind catches the fin and it actually looks like it's treading water to stay in place it also seems extremly durable. believe the hipe it's worth the $$$$$$.
When this bait hits the market go get one if you like to catch monster large mouths. it will soon be known as the best big bait ever made!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!FISH ON and FISH OFTEN

What did it look like? I'm thinking it's a cross between the MS Slammer and the 3:16 sidewinder. An MS Slammer with more joints?

Hey fish on, you sound excited lol. Guys, keep in mind the bait that's on the site and in the video is one of the prototype baits. The real ones are still not out yet. I'm anxious to see it though :)

Waoh,a silver bullet huh.:+ I still think the best baits have more to do with the person fishing them rather than the actuall bait itself, althogh I bet it does look good.Tight lines,
Billy.

The first time I saw the Armageddon in the water I was blown away. I was fishing DVL with Mickey and was intrigued with what the plug did. I quit fishing and watched Mickey fish. I wish he had two but at that time there was only one in existence. Even though I felt the plug did not need any refining Mickey has devoted the last four months making the Armageddon better. I have tested at least four generations of the bait. Currently I have a message on my answer machine to pick up, what Mickey believes is the final product, and start tossing it. I love using the bait without the lip. It is an absolute killer deadstick and surface twitch bait. I have approximately 175 hours using this bait and have had phenomenal success. I will be fishing Lake Fork next month and can’t wait to try Armageddon on post spawn Texas Bass.

Posted by trophyhunter01, Tue Mar-23-04 06:06 AM
yes you are right fish on that was the finished bait. i was there sunday as well, but missed mickey. anyways the baits are by far the greatest hard swim bait around today. i fished mine on saturday and sunday. and finally got bit not just followed like every other swim bait i have fished. the first fish slurpped it off the top, and the second hit it so hard it scared me. the bad thing is i was unable to hook either fish. my own fault just was not ready for it to get bit. anyways for anyone out there that has wounderd about the bait or the cost just wait untell you see this bait yourself before maken any comments and then you will see that the armageddon is by far the top off the line when it caomes to swim baits around today.

so how much is this new little gem going to cost us?
12815, RE: armed ta get um
Posted by Mickey, Tue Mar-23-04 08:54 AM
Dont know the cost still, I feel the bait is done now!!!!!!!!!!! its built like a tank and I think it will bounce off of rock, its solid and will withstand the beating everyones gonna put on it! I will say this, It is by far my best work. Its gotta alot of heart in it! lots of love went into this bad boy! One personal promise is that you will get your money's worth not to mention some of the most insane heart stoppin top water action you ever seen in your life, guarentee !!! I hope everyone has a ball. Some time when I close my eyes I can still see the fish crushing it! scared into the memory like it just happened! youll see em soon!!! fish hard and go BIG! boo yaa

Sounds almost too good to be true, you guys make it seem like its better than a real trout? Also sounds like it will be very expensive,Im sure its an awsome bait but it sounds like they will be hard to get and if you do get one it will cost an arm and a leg.I was scared to fish my og generic, and that bait was way too expensive for a poo boy like myself.Good luck with your baits Mickey,Im sure it will be near impossible to keep up with the demand,Rago couldent.
12818, RE: armed ta get um
Posted by , Tue Mar-23-04 12:09 PM
If you see it in the water it looks and swims like a real trout, without a doubt it will be worth whatever he asks for it. He used good hardware like owner hooks and re-enforced joints and stainless pivot rods. It's a high quality bait that performs like a quality bait should,so start mowin' some lawns to get the $$ to get one

Posted by Mickey, Tue Mar-23-04 05:50 PM
there is no such thing as luck!!! and there is no-one bait that will get um all the time, but there is a time and place for these! It also take alot of heart to go big all day, but the pay off is bigger! So to each is own. Point is these bone crushers are Bad,and some times you gotta see it to belive it. Not me though,I got faith ! Try to pull a theory out of thin air and then have the heart to do it. The price,no matter what isnt gonna be for everyone.you dont go to a Ferrari dealer looking for honda prices do you??? any way these are the final baits for your viewin pleasure! Feel free to comment:9

The little bass is cool. Maybe I will buy it as a mount. :+
Do the these trout have gray bellies? The middle one in the pic has a nice color blend. White bellies would be more appropriate.

dude, do you think the fish care??? because Henry, Rob , and I have baits that the paint has come off and they look like a floater that you find on the shore and the fish still eat um.Im not a photogragher though, Ill try to take better pics next time!

Sorry bro- just got a little hyper. the baits go from the belly, pearl white, silver, olive green and a dust of pink! you are right though, the belly should be real white.

They do look bad ass mick, but I still believe there is NO silver bullet. No matter how good they look in or out of the water!Good luck with your baits, and if they are not too much dough and are readily available to the public and not just to the 316 crewmebers I may try one.

Mickey, I know I told you what I thought about your baits on Sun. at LMV w/ Dan and in the first post in this conversation (hopefully half of the 440 viewers that read my post buys one of your new baits) but I have to say it again those are the best hardbaits I've ever seen I have over 20 big baits and I can't wait to add the bass and trout to my collection. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. thanks for helping us catch those illusive double digits. FISH ON and FISH OFTEN
12834, RE: Armed and Infomercial
Posted by bigmouthbass, Tue Mar-23-04 10:52 PM
Here we go again, yes they do look great,I am still waiting to read/see documentation and pictures of those dbl digit bass, from anyone who is fishing them, proof is in the puddin, what happened to the replacable fins? Although a Ferrari is pricey, not everyone wants one or can afford it, doesnt mean its the best "by far" item out there, not to mention the crummy gas mileage. Since 86ing all my 316 baits, I realized, "holy crap" I had been spending way to much on these baits, I switched back to Osprey, Eagle, Rago(still pricey), SR(most affordable), Optimum and my fish count actually got better, no dbl digits though. Like there is no silver bullet, I have found that mixing up the weapons has worked for me. Bad pub goes along way, I may forgive, but never forget. Just my 1st ammendment 2 cents. Heading down to San Diego to get in on the monster spawners, anyone else heading out there? Coin toss between Murray and San V.

Bro, what the hell is that, Im not your bro, the mouth is moving yet all I can hear is blah blah blah, hows business, pay attention to whats important, " I don't know a price yet" cmon, worked on it for 4 months and cant figure that one out. I you want a pissing match, I've got a big bladder, pm me at bigmouthbass@cox.net. I thought this forum was for fishing tips and techniques, not a spamming of "I AM THE GREATEST LURE MAKER OF ALL TIME", use my personal email if you want to drag this out.

the way i see it mickey has not said anything about being the greatset lure maker of all time.if you read my posts however I DO AND WILL SAY IT AGAIN MICKEY MAKES THE BEST BAITS OUT ON THE MARKET TODAY. there are alot of baits out there that all look the same mickey's by far blow all of them out of the water. the only one that could come close would be the old wood castic. one more thing man have you ever seen the picture on his site the proff is in the pudding right there for you to see. as for myself i have fished swim baits for a long time with no luck. i had the chance to meet mickey , he hooked me up with some of his baits and banm i got a 31.14lbs striper and have now been able to go out and get bite not fallowed like the other baits we all have fished. call it what you want , but i am now a die hard 3:16 lure fisherman for sure.

Big mouth does that stand for largemouth bass or your big mouth. where in these posts is Mickey claming he makes the best baits if you read the original post it was me (fish on) that says Mickey made the BEST HARD BAIT EVER. nobody is on this post to talk smack just giving Mickey some long deserved credit do I sence a little jealousy. I don't know how many of you actually have met Mickey before or have had the chance to speak with him, I personally know him and I can vouch that he is one of the most dedicated people I have ever known. I met him at LMV in 2000 when he was prototyping the mission fish, we had a conversation about the hows and whys with his bait. Now 4 years later he is still at it now better than ever. And for you Mr Bigmouth have you ever heard of a guy named Mike Long? I know he has caught several double dig fish on 316 baits. I have seen pics of double dig fish from DVL on the prototype hard baits. So for you to come on here and talk trash about someone that you don't know is rediculous! You should go out and fish with him and see his stuff in action then you will believe.

Was up Mickey? Can you post the pics again? For some reason, I can't pull them up. People can say whatever they want about Mickey but you have to admit that he is remarkably talented at doing what he does.

I stand in amazement as I look at that PIC! The joints alone must be an engineering 'marvel? I can't get my mouth to 'close', I'm so amazed. The sheer "cojones" and imagination it took to take on a project like that is unbelievable to me.

I just received my first-ever Slammer so I'm way behind the 'ball' when it comes to using swimbaits, hard or soft. It is a thing of 'beauty' too but certainly not in the same class as those Armageddons. Good luck(hard work really ;) ) and I hope you have great success with them.

You got a slammer!? you are in very good hands with that bad boy.You WILL catch fish! The slammer and the Rago rat are 2 of my favorites.I learned alot from those baits. My 2 year old son caught his first bass on a custom 2 inch rat Rago made him.4 pounder!!!!!Its cool your going big out there,Fish hard and go BIG

Now that everyone's done playing, i'll throw in a comment or two.

Mickey, your baits look awesome! Of course like everyone said, there is no silver bullet (isn't that why you have over ten baits in your line?)When the fish are on that type of bite though, i'm sure it will be killer. That also just happens to be my favorite bites to fish. Having a fish whack a trout on top is what I live for. Just can't wait to see a fish whack an Armageddon!

Oh yeah, I also wanted to tell Dan to have confidence in that Slammer you got. Slammers have been catching big fish for a long time and will continue to catch fish for years to come. Keep swimmin' that thing on top and you'll get some of the best bites of your life.

Nice Swimbaits...
Any person who devotes time to making such a great looking lure deserves credit...
I would be interested in purchasing one but am also waiting for the price...
I am on a budget so I can't afford to buy expensive lures...
However, I can manage some $$$ when the opportunity comes up...
Any pics of the Slammer???

Once again Great job...
