125, secret ponds

Everybody wants to know where the secret spots are, but relaying this info just isn't all that sporting. I like to hike/bike/kayak to out of the way fishing holes that I have found through pouring over maps, hoping over fences and busting through brush. Case in point- I know of a canyon in San Diego County with a two acre pond loaded with stunted bass. There is no other evidence of visitations to this pond- no beer cans, old fishing lines, etc. After 5 miles of mountain biking down abondoned roads, throwing my bike over several lfences,I caught over 100 bass that first day(albeit small ones). You could see them hanging out over the weedbeds, lining up to take the hook. I threw plastics- any color would do. I decided to do a bit of an experiment. I kept going back to this lake. The next time I caught 50 the next 30 next 17, and the numbers held at about that rate. Now, I was the only lucky one to have visited that pond for some time, but it would not have been as sweet had I had not been the first one there. So-- my advice is this. There still is some magic out there- be crafy and search for it- and keep it to yourself so that others can search for it also.<P>Andy
