My wife's cousin is staying with us for the summer. He lives in Florida and loves to fish. This 12 year old kid really impressed me.
I taught him the roots of fishing 2 years ago, and he has really improved. He listens and wants to learn everything to know about bass fishing. Before he leaves I wanted to take him to Barrett, but the chances of us getting in before August are pretty slim? What lakes do you guys recommend?

san v can do pretty good during the summer, topwater action with shad basically all over.
If you live close to barret, my buddy just got a ride down there and asked people if he could be on there ticket, because a ticket holds 4 people, so he just asked 3 cars and got 2 slots in. He fished off the boat dock and got 70 something bass and his buddy got 20 (his buddy was new) . He said senkos texas rig and drop shot were the best way to get fish!

By the way the bass was caught at Lake Forest II, we were fishing docks, I tried to edit the subject to something else but time expired?

If you want to take the little guy to Barrett I dont know how god your chances of getting a boat are but if he likes float tubing you have a pretty good chance of getting in on someones extra spots. Check out this link to the Barrett lake message board, alot of guys are offering extra spots for float tubers or you can post your story there and theres a good chance someone will offer. Good luck!
