I've already been burned royal by CARB with dirt bikes. IMO, the 4 stroke is the only way to go. Who knows what rules they will come up with 4 or 5 years down the line. I believe that 2 strokes are banned on Lake Tahoe. I wouldn't want to bet $10,000 that the MWD will not try that eventually on Diamond Valley.

There was a good article in the most recent issue of "Bassin" (a rag I pick up at Walmart). It was saying how the Optimax and all the other clean 2-strokes are so leaned out and efficient that they are super-finicky about fuel quality and other parameters that effect performance. It went on to say that the clean 2-strokes are just a stopgap that the manufactures are falling on until they develop their 4-stroke technology inhouse.

I own a sterndrive :( , so I really don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to outboards, I'm just relaying the info that I read.
