Was up in SB for superbowl weekend and after charging casitas, followed by surf fishing action, followed by poker night, Brian #2 and I were up greeting the morning at 0' dark thirty yesterday. Met Larry at the bottom of the pass and headed up for some trout harrassing. Ran to Larry's first trolling spot at 40mph in slightly above freezing temps, now that's refreshing. It was all big hammer all the time, and I started out with fire tiger while Larry and Brian went with shad and trout type colors. The day quickly became a stocker trout tournamnet of champions, with a division for total number of trouts and one for largest single trout. I quickly took the lead with a medium size fish, and Larry followed up shortly afterward with a nice one, over 3lbs. The bite throughout the day was slow to mediocre, we'd pick up a fish now and then, we had a double or two and a couple dry spells. They seemed to bite the pearl colored hammer quite well and at one point we had three out of four rods dragging pearl. Final count for the day was 8 trouts for me, 7 trouts for Larry and 2 trouts for Brian Kettler. I took home the title of stocker trout trolling master, Larry won big fish, and Brian decided to stick to bass fishing.
