The shad were the biggest I've seen in a long time. It was nice having bait that would swim line right off your reel like a sardine. When chased they would swim with the weight of the split shot back up to the surface so you could see 'em get nailed right on the surface. I'd say they were mostly in the 5" class. Vince's 6 lb. was a great top water explosion.

Karl, it would have been great if you would have gotten sea sick on Lake Castaic. You know I would have been going off with the camera, I would never let you live that down. Since your going to Dana Point today I'm guessing your not wearing your jewels as a necklace for getting home so late.

Wils, thanks! Now that I think about it I've never seen Vince post here? I'll e-mail him the URL. Yes strictly shad for me today, Karl played with his furry jig a bit but that was it for lure fishing today.
