A few days ago I turned on the "views" feature in the message boards which allows logged in users to see how many times a thread has been viewed. For me it's been enlightening. Seems that the saltwater board is definitely the happening place. I'm going to try to use that information to make the site better and more useful for everyone.
In the next week or so I am going to be implementing some new boards and changing the format of some of the special boards like the stardust board and the centralcoastbass.com board. What I'm hoping to do is bring together all of the fishing sites that I am the webmaster on and merge their message boards into calfishing while still retaining each site's individuality. Should be interesting...

I like the new features. The views option is pretty sweet to see how many people have viewed a post. What I can't figure out is the rating. How is a rating determined?

Good luck integrating all your sites into one messageboard. Sounds like an intense project. If you need any help with IP SMTP, you know who to call (that is supposed to be a joke!)

The ratings thing is kind of confusing when you first see it but the idea is simple. At the bottom of each message thread (not each individual message but the whole thread) there is a place where you can rate each message from 1 to 10. It will be in red. Anyone who is logged in can rate the thread and the ratings are averaged to yeild the total rating number that you see by the thread. Basically it's a chance to say, hey this thread is worth reading, or hey this thread is a waste of bandwith!
I think all of this stuff is described if you click "help" not that most people including me, would want to read that, but it's in there.

Okay, now I feel like a moron.

On my next post, I'll ask what something profound like, what is the difference between a Carolina rig and a split shot rig? (hee hee)
