I need to pick up a left-handed, freshwater baitcasting reel to use for catfish. Of course, I would need a clicker.

Here is my problem: the only one that I saw that meets those requirements is a Shimano Corsair 400. I have read about problems with the Corsair and was wondering if the problems with them have been solved. I called Shimano technical support and they told me... "what problem?, we don't know of any problem". Either the person was clueless or lying; hence I do not trust Shimano's "expert" technical staff.

Can anybody out there help me? Thanks.

Karl

I love my Abu 6500-C3L. It's got the Clicker and is a lefty. It's not the smoothest thing in the world, but for a beater rig for cats, striper and anything else that I'll abuse a rod chasing it's good.

Tight lines,
Wade

Here's another vote for the Abu. My buddy uses a 6500 Ultra Cast for cats. It's left handed, has a clicker, and is plenty smooth.

Yeah, go Abu. As for Shimano... I'm sure they're not going to admit that a whole line of their reels are crap. Afterall, there are no problems with a brand new Corsair, it's just after a year that it craps out...
