5108, Question about Pontoon vs. Kayak

Fellas,
I need your expertise pros and cons between pontoon vs. kayak, I have used pontoon for at least 4 years now, they are definitely fun its just getting from one place to another is a bit slower specially when its windy, as for fishing and fighting a fish wouldn't trade it for anything, not unless your on clear lake on some of those keys/creeks (eerie places if your alone) and there's a carp jump landed on your bib and start flapping like crazy (I was gonna use a graphic word but I know this site won't tolerate those) I almost had a heart attack, :+ I am planning to get a kayak, what other advantage the kayak has other than they are faster from point A to point B, I appreciate all the input, Thanks,

IMO the only advantage the yak has is covering water. However it isnt a big enough advantage to out weigh the fishability. Some kickboats do cover water better then others. What kickboat do you have?

The sport is a good boat for the money. The ODC XR 8 I believe would actually glide a bit better. The XR 8 has larger diameter pontoons and an aluminum frame. The versa vessel tracks real well also. If you are going to spend the money to buy a yak, your better off upgading your kickboat.

I am thinking that's a very good idea, but there are instances that there are lakes or ponds that won't allow any body contact on the water example is San Pablo reservoir, meaning they either have limited spot for kickboaters than kayakers, besides I've seen some descent price on yak like $250-400 depends on the quality, I think I'll keep my toon at the same time I'll buy yak too, also when is the clear lake open? I'm more likely to be there, see ya all in the water, Thanks again Lake your the man!

Maybe do some research on some of the foot pedal kayaks. I see a lot of people using these, so they must like them. I don't think anything can beat fishing out of a kickboat as far as maneuverability, but it could be the next best thing.
