Does anyone know of an experienced transmission shop that deals with Dodge diesels in the Santa Clarita/ Antelope Valley’s? I’m pretty sure that my torque converter is starting to slip and I don’t want to get stuck out in the middle of the desert. I’ve been told by other people that it’s possible that the problem isn’t with my transmission and that I should take the truck into the dealership and have it scanned. The only problem with that is I don’t trust any dealerships due to past issues. They lied and cut some corners in the past and I swore I’d never go back. So with that being said any suggestions?

The trans is either a 46RE or a 47RE I’m not sure.

If the problem is due to a computer or sensor the O/D light should flash or check engine light should come on. Check the fluid to see if it appears burnt or smells burnt. If the fluid is overfilled then that could also be a problem.

Did you have the transmission serviced recently? How often do you have it serviced?

I don't have any recommendations as far as a shop your way. The dealer probably would be the best because they will be aware of any updates for the transmissions. They only see Dodge so they will be more familiar with any common problems.

I ended up forking out $2,800 for a full rebuild with a heavy duty billet torque converter. I'm not having anymore problems. I'm able to pull the hill to Palmdale at 55 again.
In the past I always have my trans serviced every 12 mo and I’ve always ran Red line synthetic fluid in it. I believe that’s the only reason the trans lasted 170,000 miles.
