When you are experienced at releasing an Osprey. A few years back I was fishing with my gilrfriend and 5 year old son. We had been out all day and were headed back to the truck. I threw a 7" dark trout slammer way out behind the boat and started to put some tackle away. I see a shadow go rippin' by and knew right away what was about to happen. I grab my rod yell and reel trying to get the bait to dive but it was to late. My slammer was 20' in the air. after a short tussle the osprey was in the water with a hook in its leg.:-( we got close to the bird and I threw my sweatshirt over its head and scooped him up out of the water. (those birds are bigger than they look.) I now had a my son, my girlfried, myself, and a bird with a 6' wing span in my 10' boat. We all stayed as calm as we could. (bird included) After turning the bait and line around the bird was free.:) the osprey was released unhurt. both it and its partner circled over us for over an hr. I now carrie a camera almost always.
