Went into tackle warehouse yesterday and the guy said Pete and Suzanne are no longer owning it. If you have ever met them they are the nicest people and am sad they are not apart of it anymore.
I met Pete when he was running the store in Arroyo Grande and they were just selling camping, hiking, backpacking and just a few tackle items. He and suzanne made you feel like family when you walked in from the beginning. Hope all is well with them and the guy said the store will run just the same as when they were there.....BassMan

Wow, that's news to me. I bought a rod from Pete himself just before Christmas and nothing was said. Like you, I've been working with Pete and Suzzane since in Arroyo.

Wow thats is news, part of the reason i shop there(aside from being close) was the fact that the owners were so nice and easy to deal with.I honestly hope things dont change there .

I loved it when they had Outfitters. When I was in Pismo on the last day of our trips my wife knew we were going to have lunch and dabble in a lil fishing tackle over there. When they moved to San Luis I made the trips. They were always great and gave up some of the local gossip on what was working.

I can distinctly remember 9 years ago the first time I walked into Wilderness Outfitters how I felt like wow, now here is a great shop with great service! When you're a young guy a lot of times shops don't give you the time of day, but when you walked into that shop it didn't matter who you were, you got treated like a million bucks. I walked out with $200 worth of gear that day and I've spent a few bucks there and with TW since :) I would bet there's a thousand other people who could say the exact same. Pete and Susanne are great friends and I know that they will hit the ground running. They'll have my support whatever happens in the long run.

I agree, Tackle Wherehouse (Wilderness O.) has been a friend to our Bass Club (me too!) in the past and their staff has always been very responsive. I always make it a point to stop by and talk to them or check out the latest tackle. I sincerely hope the shop will continue and wish Pete and Suzanne all the best. :-)

I talked to one of my friends last night in Cali.(Suzanne used to work for his dad.) He said that they sold TW to Suzannes brother-in-law. He is the one who got them online and he bought them out, basically.

Yep, bought out by the "....warehouse" guy, If you live anywhere near SLO you know who I am talking about.

Just to add to the great words about Pete and Susanne, I have always thought the best of a shop owner that made you feel so welcome as they did, always sharing the best happening "spots" to be. It was a while ago that I went into "Wilderness Outfitters" in AG and was really into the store, at that time I was more into Backpacking and Trout fishing. They were the ones that introduced the Osprey lure to me and explained how it worked....well it wasn't more then a couple days later on Lake Santa Margarita that on the third cast I caught the biggest bass of my life at that time. Another time Susanne showed me this crazy new soft bait called a Senko..:-)...Went to where she told me to go at Lopez lake and well I had a hell of an afternoon that day....They are truely great people. I wish both Pete and Susanne the best in thier future....

That sucks! As soon as I found a replacement for my favorite store (BWW) and they're out also. Are they going out of business or just under new ownership? I really don't want to go to Anglers Marine because I don't really like that store. I've had so many bad expierences there in the past. I wish them the best of luck and thanks for having everything I needed!!!

Hey guys don't worry about TW. The store still has the great customer service it has always had, its just under new ownership.

Hey,
This is Susanne, Just letting you know that Pete and I are alive and doing well. Just signed on to Rob's website and want to say hi. I'm really excited to hear what everyone is doing and to update everyone on how great we are doing. I'm back in the construction industry working for Dechance Construction. I'll just keep it short and say we are both doing better than ever!!!!! Hoping to get out there and catch some of those big fish. Maybe go to Shasta or Clear Lake soon. Well, I'll update more later. Having lunch with my dad!

Susanne,
Thanks for keeping us informed! Good luck to you and Pete and let us know what you've been up to once in a while. We'll look for some pictures of those catches, too!

Suzanne,

I hadn't been into TW for a while, because I haven't had much time to fish lately, but when I went in a couple days ago, I was shocked to find out you were no longer there. Glad to hear to hear you and Pete are doing well. You and Pete will be missed at TW; hopefully the new owners can come close to providing the friendly and knowledgable service that you and Pete provided.

Hope to see you and Pete around town sometime, or better yet, at the lake.

Pete (not Phil) ;-)

Pete,
Thanks for missing us. We miss ALOT of people. We are doing well. We have mostly been doing saltwater fishing. The ocean has been beautiful and flat. Like a lake. We caught a few halibut (not legal length) so we had to release them, but they were fun to catch. Pete took his grandson to the lake and had him on the bluegill bite and they had a blast.

I'm glad you said (not Phil) otherwise I probably wouldn't know who it was. ha, ha..... Thanks
