1601, Striper Stamp?
Posted by PHISHnutS, Fri Sep-20-02 06:19 AM

Does anyone know what the striper stamp money funds?I would think it goes toward helping the species in some way but how?It seems that in SO CAL lakes at least they are treated like a nusence.I understand they do hurt the LMB population by eating all the food and eating the fry which I'm not happy about, but their already in the lakes and you can't eliminate them all now.I would hate to think that the money goes towards elimanating them!

Thanks for any info or input!

it dosent do squat for inland stripers ,it funded planting for the delta(SALTWATER),and that stopped like two years ago but we still have to pay!bullcrap if you ask me ,just another way to stick to the little guy,and what are we supossed to do about it im a fisherman not a politician.some local homies from skinner were raising hell to the rangers about it because the stupied dfg dosent plant trout there they have to buy there own,but you still need that friggin stamp.but there sneeky assses will be out there harassing peaple for snaggin shad ,and hiding in the bushes lookin for poachers.ok im done !!!!!
dfg rules and the fishers drule...........

got 2 fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It used to be primarily for raising stripers to be stocked in the san fran bay/delta. This was recently stopped because the striped bass population in the bay/delta exceeded what the DFG thinks is healthy for the salmon population (basically a bunch of horse ####, they're pointing fingers in the wrong direction, but I won't go further). Right now I don't know where the money's going. Maybe to stock millerton, san luis, etc...

But I want the striper stamp to stay alive. I'd rather pay the $3.70 a year and demand them to do something with it. Demanding they discontinue the stamp because they aren't using it for plants right now is a good way to make sure they never plant again.

I agree nico,I don't want them to do away with the fee just want it to benifit the striper anglers as a whole not just a couple spots somewhere.Actually I wish they would start a LMB stamp and start doing anual plants in major lakes around the country!!!

1605, Keep feeding our stripers

Ya, I agree with the dude who says the DFG f'-uped on the whole salmon/striper thing. We have people at the DFG who could not find their head from their @ss ! Here they are charging people for the whole striper thing and worried about the salmon population at the same time. Maybe if they realized the DAMS are what hurt the salmon population the most they would understand that we have to deal with what we've done to our environment. I'm not saying blow the dams but deal with what stupid mistakes we made. Relying on electricity from the dams, oil for our vehicles ect. But I gotta tell ya, when you hit the lakes in the winter time when the hatchery truck comes on any given day - man it sure is a cool site to see those stripers boiling at the ramps. I am so glad we continue to feed the largemouth and stripers, cause dude they have gotten so big from our truck trout. I am willing to bet the revenue from the trout ie; striper stamps, would rival what is profited from the striper stamps themselves. Let's face it, we would not be buying the striper stamp if it were not for the fact that the trout were being stocked - they both go hand in hand. Now only if they didn't screw up Lake Davis and ruin the economy in Davis. Boy I sure like roetone in my drinking water, gives it that down to earth death taste. But hey, those northern pike would bite people and eat all the salmon in california ..........- yeah right. Hopefully the northerns will get a foothold on the lake and provide a sustainable population to fish, cause I'm there dude.
