113, Best Central Cal Lakes for BASS TUBIN & Why?

OK everyone. We are putting together the 2001 schedule for the California Bellyboat Bass Championships. This will be a 5 Floattube Tournament series. With the "Top Bass Tuber of the Year" winning a New ODC 816 Kickboat, Shimano rod & reel combo, a Great looking plaque and oh yea $1000 CASH.

I need your constructive input as to which Central lakes (Ventura County north to?) & which Northern Cal lakes (other than Clear Lake & the Delta) we should choose.

Before you post an answer or e-mail me consider this. The lakes must have the facilities to put 60+ bass tubers on the lake comfortably for a 1 day event. They must be within reach of a good population of tubers and safe without to many Bass boats and perferable no jet ski traffic. And we need an area for a weigh-in and a shaded area for a BBQ and Awards.

I am open to all suggestions.

Is this a new "circuit"? I've never heard of it before. Once you get stuff together, I'd definitely be down for a few tourneys. Well, Margarita is definitely a good spot to float tube. Don't know about the facilities and all that, maybe Rob will jump in here. Then there's Lopez, I've never tubed it, and haven't fished it much, but it's also a good lake. What you might want to do is check out some organizations like wonbass and see what they're schedules are like, then look at some of those lakes and find out about the facilities and whether or not float tubes are allowed. Let's hear some more info on this deal, I'm definitely interested.

Santa Margarita Lake would be the way to go. I've fished Lopez, too, but it has poor launching facilities and you have to contend with jet skis and water skiers.
At Margarita they have two launch ramps, the main one at the marina and a second one to the east. I've seen them close off the east ramp for launching sailboats for an organized event, maybe they can do the same for us? If not, there is still plenty of good shore spots for launch, weigh-in, etc. Good picnic grounds and shouldn't be too much fishing traffic as long as we pick a weekend when there is not another tounament going on. Plenty of Central Coast float tubers in the area.
Let me know if I can help you organize this.
