I have broke two Okuma XH swimbait rods. The first was on a hookset on a fish between 3-5lbs. The next was on a snag, I was pulling on it pretty hard but not hard enough to break it. Overall I love the rod but was wondering if anybody else has had problems with them breaking.

I have had one break when a friends son stepped on it while in by boat. I called Okuma and they told me to send them the broken piece and they would replace it. It took about a week and a half total, and I recieved my brand new rod.

I'm pretty good at breaking rods but haven't managed to break either of mine. My favorite rod breaking methods are setting on snags, slamming in camper shell windows, and snapping tips off by ramming them into things. The more I break, the more I realize, sometimes it just happens. I kind of doubt that the XH okuma has a breakage problem in general just because so many people have them by now, people would already have made posts about it if they were breaking in unreasonable numbers.

The good news is it's an $89 dollar rod and you're probably covered under the warranty. More info at:

Thanks for the info, the guys at the tackle shop said the first one I broke was the first broken one they had seen. I will try to send it back to Okuma because they are in such short supply around here.
