1871, Rod/reel set up for swimbait/flippin?
Posted by Bassin, Thu May-05-05 08:00 AM
Awhile ago I saw a thread on reels for swimbait throwing....I am on a budget and also need to combine Techniques, So I was wondering what is a good setup (Pole/Reel) for Flippin and Throwing Swimbaits???

Thanks...

I personally don't think that the swimbait rods double as good flipping rods?

The tips on the swimbait rods are too limber. What size swimbaits are you going to be throwing?

...Edit...

After thinking about what I said, that's not all true. :P I have a Daiwa big bait special that I throw frogs with too. I don't use it a lot, but I have used it to flip in the past. The thing I don't like about using it for flipping is the handle. It has a really long handle that makes it uncomfortable to flip, especially when you're sitting down.

I've got a couple rods that are budget oriented. I'll have them at the Open if you want to check them out :-)

I have one of the rogue swimbait rods and it is great! You can flip pretty good w/ it but like woodsac said the tips are a bit soft and the back of the handles are long but they will work fine till you can buy more tecnique specific rods.
