i have 6# toray fluoro on the 50MG spool ... definitely helps when casting 3/16oz leadheads in the bays or surf.

as for the metal cast control cap, if you like to crank the drag star down it provides a little more clearance if you also run w/ the cast control backed off. other than that, purely cosmetic IMHO.

since i've already swapped out the stock shimao drag for a thicker carbon fiber drag washer, i don't have to tighten up the drag that much so i have plenty of clearance.
