That's a very nice fish you got from the surf,congrats!!

Big LM and stripers are both top predators and feed on smaller fish in general. All the big baits used by LM fisherman will work for stripers as well, they both love trout!! There is not allot of articles or knowledge in general on stripers in freshwater, or big ones anyway. They are very agressive and are on the top of the food chain, so they usually have the prime feeding grounds, but you tend to catch LM's while fishing for stripers or vise versa so it's very similar when targeting both large species.

So like everyone says, go fishing close to trout plants, fish where the trout are and sometimes the worse the weather the better...and fish often :P
